How It Works
Every professional sports transaction — signings, trades, extensions, and draft picks — is tracked and graded using independent systems. NFL, MLB, and WNBA use four grades; NBA uses five (player evaluation is split into an Impact grade and a Role grade):
Performance Grade
On-field production evaluated against peers at the same position. For NBA, this splits into two complementary grades — an Impact grade for league-wide winning contribution and a Role grade for position-relative execution.
Sentiment Grade
Analysis of media coverage and fan discussion from news sources and social platforms. Measures the public reaction to each move, capturing how reporters and fans feel about a transaction.
Contract Value Index
A proprietary formula that evaluates whether a team is getting good value based on player performance, age trajectory, contract terms, and market conditions. Answers the question: is this deal worth it?
Fan Verdict
Direct fan voting on every transaction and player. Your grade matters — fan sentiment is tracked and displayed alongside algorithmic analysis, giving fans a real voice in evaluating their team's decisions.
Our Methodology
Our grading system is developed with PhD-level economists and statisticians, built on empirical research analyzing thousands of player-seasons across multiple sports. Every grade is derived from real data — not subjective opinions. Our proprietary methodology is continuously refined to produce accurate, defensible evaluations.
Multi-Sport Coverage
FanVerdicts covers the NFL, NBA, MLB, and WNBA with sport-specific research and calibration for each league. Every sport has its own grading formulas tuned to the unique dynamics of that league — salary structures, positional value, and performance metrics all differ by sport.
